Mr. Mots and Tots

Motley,
Welcome to the family little guy!

Hello handsome!

How absolutely adorable is this furry little nugget? I can't wait for Tucker to meet him. I guess we're a family of hound dogs now. Hey, I'm not complaining. After all, their ears make me melt (did I really just say that? Judge away.)

Layers

A cold front has come back around, and by cold front I'm talking between 50-70 degrees ( I know, I know that's not really cold but I'll take what I can get, alright?) Tomorrow is also Friday which means I have three straight days being scrub free, and am able to actually put an outfit together. Heck ya. Oh the things that make me happy.

Here are a few outfits I've been eyeing, can you tell I'm totally digging layers? Maybe if you're lucky I'll get super corny and make my sister take a few outfit pictures this weekend in between my study bingeing. Until then, enjoy these beauts!

OH did I mention my brother and sister-in-law have a new addition to their family?!? A furry little guy, and I can't wait to meet him!

Cheers to Friday!

Polish me up, buttercup.

I'm a simple girl. Lots of things make me happy, ya know, family, beautiful weather, wine, puppies, my handsome boyfriend, food, nail polish, and food (whoops, I said that already?) I'm also a poor graduate student and anytime I find a good deal, homegirl is on cloud 9 (yes, I'm that homegirl).

Anyways, as I was saying, right, deals- all about them. Clearly getting weekly manicures is just not on my priority list, and if it is on yours, well shoot, power to ya! I came across this top coat polish and I could literally rave about it ALL-DAY-LONG. It's amazing. You put it on top of your base coat while it's still wet and I kid you not, both coats will be dry in about three minutes (one of natures phenomena's I tell ya). The shine is fabulous, and chipping is minimal for about a week (almost none- could someone riddle me that?). Yes, I know, you can thank me later.

Okay, so the top coat is called Seche Vite. I bought mine at Target for about 10$ (yes, I know that is a little more than usual but trust me when I say it's an investment). I've been using this top coat for about three weeks now and I LOVE it. I thought I would pass this along, so enjoy!

Top coat on the right.

Face of an angle, people.
He's a looker.

One of the many things that makes me smile.

Happy one day 'til Friday ;)

Thankful.

Last night I sat in bed (feeling nice and sick) wandering around the amazing world of pinterest (I mean really, what else is a girl to do? Clearly not anything productive). As I was looking at some of my DIY things I've pinned and never got around to making- yeah, real shocker there I know, I came across this amazing website with a ton of free printables.

We're having Thanksgiving at my parents house this year and I know my mom is already feeling stressed out (mostly because she's told me about 15 times. There seems to be a positive correlation with each glass of wine she has and how stressed about Thanksgiving she is. Silly woman.)

Anyways, I volunteered to help her get ready and decorate and have decided on this banner, either for the food table or above the fire place. Haven't quite made up my mind yet. This banner is cute, free, simple, organic, OH and free (sorry did I tell you that already?)

Precious, right? Right.

All you have to do is go to this link: http://www.shanty-2-chic.com/2012/10/free-printable-banner-for-thanksgiving.html and print these bad boys out. Back the letters on a beige (or color of choice) and use clothes pin (you can buy them anywhere, Walmart, Michaels, shoot probably the grocery store) to hang them on a strand of string or hemp.

Easy peasy, baby!

Oh and today I am thankful for my snooze button, keurig and excessive amounts of vitamin C- Cheers!

Later,
Marisa

Food. Again.

It's no new news, I love to eat. All kinds of food, I'm not bias. This leads to me loving to cook (much less now that I have zero free time and am living at home, it's just not the same when it's not your own kitchen. But hey, I'm making due people, cut me some slack will ya?)

Anyways, in between being so sick and feeling on the verge of death this weekend (okay, I'm mildly dramatic) Hunter and I made steak quesadillas on the grill- can you say delectable? I can, and I will: DELECTABLE. mm mmm mm.

We cut up a green pepper and a sweet onion, drizzled some olive oil on top and seasoned lightly with salt and pepper.

Made a fancy little foil boat and put those babies right on the grill. Don't forgot to move them around so they all cook evenly.

My favorite part (can I get a mmmmm?). We seasoned the steaks (both sides) with worchestire sauce, lemon pepper and salt. While cooking we added a little more sauce to the steaks, and cooked them to medium rare (about 135 degrees).

Put the tortilla on a grate pan on the grill, add cheese, pepppers, onions and steak.

For the sauce on top I mixed half BBQ sauce and half sour cream (tasty).

Can you tell Tuck REALLY wanted a 'dilla?

Good gracious I love that furry face.
Happy Tuesday lovas,
Marisa

Remember that time...

Remember that time I had my first long weekend in grad school and I was sick the whole time? (cheers to  fever-ish five year olds sneezing on you)

Remember that time I tried to be sweet and plan a sushi date on the beach for my main man and forgot it gets dark at 6pm (you win again day lights savings..)

Remember that time Hunt felt bad that my plan failed so we went out to the beach the next night to watch the sunset with a 6pack (heavenly, right?)

Remember that time we got sushi two nights in a row and the hostess greeted us with something resembling, "Hey Marisa, weren't you guys just here last night?" UH. Well that was awkward.

Remember that time my parents went out more than we did in a weekends span? Pa-thetic.

Remember that time we spent our day off doing the crossword on the porch (how old are we again?)

Remember that time that no matter what went wrong it was still the most perfect weekend?

Hope you all had an amazing weekend- and Happy Veterans Day to all for all of those who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom.

xox,
Marisa

Is it Friday yet??

10:30 pm on a Thursday and I'm sitting in the living room, alone, still wearing my scrubs from clinic today (might I add they are stained with blue and red paint from a certain little 5 year old I see three times a week, she's a woman on a mission I tell ya), drinking a glass (or three) of cheap red wine and frantically looking for the remote because this Florida State / Virginia Tech game is only making this day worse when I realize that, yes, I am sitting on it. Icing on the cake isn't it? Sigh.

As much as I'd love to vent my frustrations of today out, I think I'll spare ya and move on to more important things, like this fabulous shirt I just ordered today (after my computer spontaneously deleted my completed treatment plan for next week right before I sent it to my supervisor. Happy Thursday ya'll):

Spectacular, am I right, or am I right? Given the recent election, this seemed fitting.

I'd say it's safe to say that this shirt was the highlight of my day. Well besides coming home to the most incredibly loving parents in the world who had made me a plate for dinner (with a nice glass of wine, not the cheap stuff I drink...alone.. reguarly). Which leads me to my next thought...

Day 8: Today I am thankful for my mom (as you all should be). It's safe to say I have the most wonderful, understanding, hilarious (yet at times forgetful in the I-like-to-repeat-the-same-thing-fifteen-times-because-I-don't-want-to-forget-it kinda way), PATIENT, domesticated, strong and LOVING mother in the world. She's a breast cancer survivor, and not a day goes by that I don't thank God for her, because I wouldn't be the young woman I am today without both her and my dad's impact. I hope one day I possess all the wonderful qualities she does. Okay, I'm done bragging.

With my sweet mama at Florida State's Relay for Life (where she camped out, all night, with me and forty of my sorority sisters- how awesome is that?)

Together at the closing ceremonies- doing what we do best, crying over everything mildly-emotional.

Some pretty amazing girls who made being in charge of Relay for Life with Bailey for two years so incredibly rewarding- Thank you!!

Okay, enough with the sappy stuff, time to drink this wine and hit the hay. After all, I have a pretty handsome fellow coming tomorrow to spend the weekend with me. Pretty darn lucky if I say so myself.

Goodnight,

Maris
